The Democratic Republic of Congo ensures

Set up a literary prize intended for the promotion of African letters.

With a view to contributing to the materialization of this theme, the Congolese President, HE Mr. Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, current president of the AU, had to initiate two major literary prize projects, including the one focused on the whole of Africa and its diaspora that is the Pan-African Grand Prix for Literature and whose management for its organization is entrusted to the Association of the Pan-African Grand Prix for Literature.

Intended for the promotion of African literature, this prize also aims to repair an oversight: the lack, until this day, in the African continent of a literary Grand Prix of its own, intended to devote and honor its multiple literary talents to worldwide. An award that would be recognized in all regions of Africa and the world without any restriction relating to linguistic practices, like FESPAM (music), MASA (performing arts) or FESPACO (cinema).

The Pan-African Literature Grand Prize is intended to honor an author from the continent who has produced a remarkable work in prose or verse touching on fiction (novel, short story, theater, tale, poetry), in French or in English. For the first edition, no theme is imposed on the participants. The works must, however, reflect the great values ​​enshrined in the Charter of the African Union, such as solidarity, Pan-Africanism, the peaceful coexistence of peoples. The management of the Pan-African Book Grand Prize is entrusted to the Association du Grand Prix Panafricain de Littérature, near the Congolese Ministry of Culture in Kinshasa / DRC, a structure called upon to manage the prize in close consultation with other associations representing writers. Africans.

The prize is subject to specific regulations * (attached to this file) which specify the terms of organization and participation.
