To raise Africa to the rank of literary power by making it a recognized body of literary consecration.
To stimulate, in addition to literary creativity, the dissemination of literary works from the continent.
The Democratic Republic of Congo ensures
currently the presidency of the African Union for the fiscal year 2021-2022. He
is happy that this mandate has been placed under the sign of culture in the open
of its main theme which is: "arts, culture and heritage:
levers for building the Africa we want "
Set up a literary prize intended for the promotion of African letters.
With a view to contributing to the materialization of this theme, the Congolese President, HE Mr. Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, current president of the AU, had to initiate two major literary prize projects, including the one focused on the whole of Africa and its diaspora that is the Pan-African Grand Prix for Literature and whose management for its organization is entrusted to the Association of the Pan-African Grand Prix for Literature.
Intended for the promotion of African literature, this prize also aims to repair an oversight: the lack, until this day, in the African continent of a literary Grand Prix of its own, intended to devote and honor its multiple literary talents to worldwide. An award that would be recognized in all regions of Africa and the world without any restriction relating to linguistic practices, like FESPAM (music), MASA (performing arts) or FESPACO (cinema).
